About Saturn Vue

As GM's first home-grown entry in the car-based small-SUV segment, Saturn Vue, also known as Saturn VUE, was produced by the subsidiary of General Motors Saturn Corporation (Saturn LLC) from 2002 to 2007 and a German automobile manufacturer, the subsidiary of the General Motors Adam Opel GmbH (Opel) between 2008 and 2010 as a compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). Originally introduced to replace the Isuzu Rodeo in Canada and Geo/Chevrolet Tracker, Vue was Saturn's best-selling model and also the first model to use the GM Theta platform. But due to 2009 General Motors' bankruptcy crisis and reorganization, production of Saturn Vue was discontinued and it was replaced by the Chevrolet Captiva Sport and Buick Envision after being manufactured through two generations.
The first-generation Saturn Vue was produced from 2001 to 2007 and debuted for the 2002 model year. It then came in two trim levels: Red Line and Green Line. During this generation, Saturn Vue was powered by 2.2 L I4 rated at 143 hp and 152 lb-ft of torque, 3.0 L V6 cranking out 181 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque, 3.5 L V6 generating 250 horsepower and 242 lb-ft of torque, 2.4 L I4 producing 170 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque and 3.6 L making 257 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque and power was sent through 4-speed, 5-speed, CVT automatic and 5-speed manual transmissions. The second-generation Vue arrived in 2007 for the 2008 model year. It then had four trim levels: base XE, classier, up-level XR, top-of-the-line sporty Red Line and Hybrid Green Line. 2.4 L I4, 3.5 L and 3.6 L V6 engines were carried over from the previous generation.

Saturn Vue Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Boasting European-inspired styling, a well-built and attractive cabin, composed handling and respectably strong engine choices, Saturn Vue is well enough as compact SUV. But the wise Vue drivers will still focus on these common problems on it:
First, according to the online car repair statistics site CarComplaints.com, transmission failure is the most common and serious issue on Saturn Vue. Actually, almost all Saturn models seem to have this issue, let's call it a transmission system design flaw on it. Luckily, you still could diagnose and solve it according to the recognizable and simple signs provided by experienced Vue drivers. They told if the indicator did not match the gear, the key could not be removed so that the vehicle has difficulty in turning off, the vehicle started in another gear or refused to go into any gear, even you had problem in shifting gears and felt transmission slippage and surging, the Vue shift cable, torque converter, clutch master cylinder, pilot bearing, automatic transmission filter and transmission shifter need replacements.
Second, engine failure is also a troublesome issue for Saturn Vue drivers. The seriousness of engine failure is transparent as the engine is the power source of moving vehicles. Therefore, if you could hear some impact noises from the engine, feel excessive engine movement and bad-performed engine such as misfiring, stalling or suffering from starting and it loses power while acceleration or consumes more oil than usual, please inspect if the Vue engine mount, oil filter, air filter, oxygens sensor, fuel injector and throttle body gasket are working properly.
But as a vehicle needs to run all the time, miscellaneous issues are not strange, in Saturn Vue, it will arise suspension and braking issues from time to time. Thus, please make sure the Vue trailing arm, trailing arm bushing and brake pad set as well as brake dust shields are in good working condition always. It is certain that routine maintenance on some vulnerable auto parts is also dispensable for the overall quality of the vehicle. Windshield wiper, wiper blade, fog light, headlight, seat belt and so on should be maintained periodically since they work hard to create a safe driving environment.
