The thermostat housing houses the thermostat which helps coolant travel so that the engine won't overheat. Although the thermostat housing may not seem like much, it is responsible for important components around the vehicle.
Importance of thermostat and thermostat housingThe thermostat is important for the engine, as it prevents it from overheating and causing damage to other components. The thermostat housing makes sure that no element is being affected from any debris or dirt. There are many housing like metal and plastic but both have their vulnerabilities.
Defective thermostat housingThe thermostat housing can run into problems quite often, some of those problems are the reading on the temperature gauge, and the leaking. The housing is responsible for allowing restriction of the travel of coolant. Leaks can also be caused due to a bad thermostat housing building pressure.
Often this type of incidents can lead to overheating and the coolant flow becoming inconsistent. A closed housing may be that the engine is not receiving the cooling effect it needs.
