TPMS Sensor

The TPMS is a monitor system that alerts you when the pressure in the tires is too low or exceeds the limits. The TPMS gives the tire pressure information through the gauge or the display. It also has two different types of TPMS.

Indirect TPMS

The TPMS is the usage of a software based system, and it gathers and combines all the sensor signal to monitor the tire pressure, but is quite inaccurate. Although it can't measure or display the pressure values, it still has to be reset once the tire have been inspected. The reset procedure have to be done after every tire setup, but that is only if the consumer does not want to do the procedure themselves.

Direct TPMS can measure the tire pressure right away by using a hardware sensor. There is a pressure sensor that runs on batteries, which tells the vehicles computer all the pressure information. While there are many systems that are OEM and aftermarket that give you display of the vehicles tire pressure. Also, most of the sensors that are aftermarket are place on the outside of the wheel and may be susceptible to damage.

Some common issues with a bad TPMS

A bad TPMS can lead to tires that are underinflated which can affect the handling, fuel consumption, and tire failure.
