Exhaust Pipe

The exhaust pipe is an important part of the exhaust system which keeps the vehicle and the environment from any harmful fumes. The exhaust pipe allows the exhaust gasses to travel through different parts of the vehicle so that the fumes can be released into the atmosphere.

Exhaust pipe terminology

The piping that links all the parts of the exhaust system is the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe diameter can range from small to large which affects the power and torque of the vehicle. A pipe that is too small may cause the power to be reduced if the RPM is too high, while the large diameter can decrease torque causing it to sit lower in the RPM range.

The end of the exhaust pipe usually has a straight or an angled cut to it. It is typically a larger pipe which is bigger than the exhaust system, but it produces less pressure and adds style to the vehicle.

Common issues with a bad exhaust pipe

A bad exhaust pipe can lead to an increase in pressure on the exhaust system, poor fuel economy, and an increase in emissions.
