About Chevrolet HHR

Inspired by the 1949 Chevrolet Suburban and Advance Design pickups, Chevrolet HHR was produced by an American multinational corporation General Motors Company's automobile Chevrolet Division from 2005 to May 2011 as a compact car. Originally introduced to reminisce retro-wagon styling, HHR had large, square fender flares and a hemispherical grille. HHR in its name stands for Heritage High Roof and it shares the GM Delta platform with the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, and Saturn Ion. Due to deteriorating sales, the production of HHR was eventually ended in May 2011 and it was replaced by Captiva Sport, Trax, Orlando and City Express.
Chevrolet HHR made its debut at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show as a 2006 model and was aimed at those looking for more style and greater cargo room. Featured clever interior packaging solutions, including a split-folding rear seat, a fold-flat passenger seat and a cargo area floor, Chevrolet HHR came in four trim levels: LS, 1LT, 2LT and a high-performance SS. During its lifetime, HHR was powered by a 2.2 L I4 rated at 143 hp initially, then bumped to 149 hp and 155 hp. It also got power from 2.4 L I4 and 2.0 L turbocharged I4 engines. And all these engines sent power through the 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions to the front wheels.

Chevrolet HHR Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Though as a versatile, styling and affordable compact wagon, Chevy HHR also has some downsides such as weak brakes and underwhelming handling dynamics. Therefore, you need to be careful about these common problems on HHR:
First, suspension and transmission issues rank first among all other problems on Chevrolet HHR. Both problems could pose dangers for driving, thus, you have to attach enough importance to them. Normally, both of them could cause clunking or rattling noises from underneath the vehicle, but the excessive vibration, unintentionally steering, grease on the inside edge of the tires, vibrating steering wheel and sluggish response in handling are often resulted from HHR steering knuckle, axle shaft, drive shaft, control arm, shock absorber, sway bar bushing, wheel bearing and sway bar bracket. And transmission failure could be attributed to HHR shift cable and clutch master cylinder.
Second, the engine is the soul of a vehicle, if anything happens to it, for Chevrolet HHR, it is a disaster. In order to stop engine failure in time, you have every need to learn about these common symptoms of the engine issue and try to solve it as early as possible. First of all, engine failure often brings about loud noises in the engine, burnt smell on the engine bay, and leaking oil. Then, the engine would perform worse so that it loses power while acceleration, misfires, stalls even has a trouble in starting. And once the coolant starts to leak, the engine will stay at a high operation temperature, and its performance plummets quickly. To prevent all these symptoms, you have to keep HHR exhaust manifold, radiator hose, engine mount, fuel injector, cooling hose, body control module, and water pump gasket in good order.
However, to keep your Chevrolet HHR at the prime condition all the time is not an easy task to complete, you always have to devote lots of time, energy and money. And in order to save your time and energy, we will let you know what parts of your HHR need routine maintenance. Windshield wiper and wiper blade are often made of soft rubber, which is a kind of resilient vulnerable material that could only last for years, and they undertake the responsibility of providing excellent visibility under adverse weather conditions, therefore, replacing them at least six to twelve months is the right and wise move. Other parts such as headlight, washer pump, wheel cover and antenna and so on should be maintained routinely as well.
And in order to save you a lot of money in keeping your Chevy HHR in best shape all the time, you had better choose OEM Chevrolet HHR auto parts from GmPartsPrime.com.
